FAQs

What is a grounded candle?

A grounded candle is a candle that you can reuse as a planter. After the candle has burned down, you can wash out your vessel, and plant the herb mix seeded paper that comes with the grounded candle to give your vessel another life as a planter for your herbs.

How do I light a wood wick?

Trim the Wick: Ensure that your wood wick is trimmed to about 1/8 to 1/4 inch in height. If it's too long, you may have to light the candle a few times for it to get to the right height.

Hold the Flame: Use a lighter or match and hold the flame to the base of the wood wick for 20-30 seconds. It may take longer to light than a traditional wick, so be patient.

Allow it to Catch: Once the flame catches, let it burn for several minutes. This allows the wax pool to develop evenly, which is essential for a clean burn.

Re-lighting: If your wick goes out, you may need to carefully remove any burnt or charred bits of the wick before attempting to relight it.

Burn Time: For the best results, allow the candle to burn for 4+ hours on its first use to create an even wax pool.

How do I plant the candle after it burns?

Once the candle has burned down and cooled, you can follow these steps:

  1. Soak your seeded paper in water overnight
  2. Wash your vessel out with hot water
  3. Fill the vessel 3/4 with soil, place the seed paper on top, and cover it 1/8 with soil.
  4. Water it gently and place it in a spot with adequate sunlight.
  5. Continue to water and care for the seeds until they sprout.

How long does it take for the herb seeded paper to start growing?

It can take about to 2-4 weeks to start seeing small seedlings.

How is the grounded candle sustainable?

Yes, these candles are designed with sustainability in mind. They are made with 100% natural soy wax, wood wick, and natural glazed ceramic and instead of throwing your vessel away after using it as a candle, our vessels are made to be repurposed into a planter to plant your herbs and future plants/flowers.
